Riverside Nature Trail

Raystown Lake

Riverside Nature Trail is approximately 1/2 mile in length and is a linear trail that requires returning along the same path.  Riverside Trail provides an educational hiking experience through a variety of ecosystems that includes a wetland, a woodland, a stream shoreline, and a field. This trail offers an ideal location for self-interpretation and for guided tours to school groups and other similar groups wishing to learn about different habitats and the ecology of each. There are also several plant species listed on the Pennsylvania threatened and endangered species list found in the area of Riverside Nature Trail.

The parking area is located at the historic “school house” area, on the south end of the trail opposite Branch Camp. The food plots on the north end of the trail adjacent to Branch Camp are provided for wildlife viewing.

Directions:

Pittsburgh: Route 22 east to Huntingdon, then Rt. 26 South to Raystown Lake. Watch for Lake Access signs (brown park signs) for specific lake areas.

Philadelphia: PA turnpike to Breezewood (exit 12), Rt. 30 West to Rt. 26 North to Raystown Lake. Watch for Lake Access signs (brown park signs) for specific lake areas.

State College: From I-80, Rt. 26 South, through State College, through Huntingdon, to Raystown Lake. Watch for Lake Access signs (brown park signs) for specific lake areas.

Harrisburg: Take Rt22/522 West to Huntingdon, Rt. 26 S. to Raystown Lake. Watch for Lake Access signs (brown park signs) for specific lake areas.

Washington DC: Rt. 270 North to Frederick, then Rt. 70 West to Breezewood. Rt. 30 West to Rt. 26 North to Raystown Lake. Watch for Lake Access signs (brown) for specific lake areas.

Baltimore, MD: Rt. 70 West to Breezewood. Rt. 30 West to Rt. 26 North to Raystown Lake. Watch for Lake Access signs (brown) for specific lake areas.
