Spectacular Hickory Nut Falls
has a vertical drop of 404 feet. Guests can hike to the top of the
falls via the
Skyline-Cliff Trail Loop and to the bottom of the falls via the
Forest Stroll hiking trail. Majestic views of the falls and gorge
are visible from Peregrine's Rest on the Skyline Trail, Inspiration
Point and other points along the Cliff Trail, and from the Forest
Stroll. |
Hickory Nut Falls is one of the highest waterfalls east of the Mississippi
River. Icy spring waters pool at several levels at the top before spilling
over the edge of the mountain. At the bottom of the falls, seen from the
Forest Stroll, the water pools at your feet before splashing through a
series of cataracts to the river below.
Chimney Rock Park is a
privately-owned, natural scenic attraction. An admission fee is charged.
