Located within
George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, the 1,200' high
Crabtree Falls is the largest vertical drop east of the Mississippi
River. Crabtree Falls is a series of 5 falls/cascades falling over a
distance of 0.5 miles.
The bottom of Crabtree Falls is accessed by traveling along a paved
trail, after which the trail becomes dirt. Nine switchbacks are
encountered along this trail before reaching the top of the falls, 1.1
miles from the parking area.
To reach Crabtree Falls from I-85, exit off onto VA 56 and travel 6
miles past the Blue Ridge Parkway. |
