White River National Forest
Available for both hiking and horseback
riding, the 3.8 mile Deluge Lake Trail shares it's trailhead with
Gore Creek Trail #2015. After 0.1 mile, Deluge Lake Trail turns left.
Follow this narrow trail heading north before curving and heading
northeast for the remainder of the trail. Passing through several boulder
fields, Deluge Lake Trail then clings to a very steep slope as it climbs
through aspen woods. Gaining about 2,500' during the first 3 miles, the
trail drops down to Deluge Creek at 3.2 miles where crossing the creek can
be tricky. To reach Deluge Lake Trail from
Vail Colorado, travel east along I-70 to exit 180 and turn right onto the
south frontage road. Continue along this road for about 2 miles to a small
parking area on the left just before
Gore Creek Campground.
