Grouse Mountain Trail #2010

Available for both hiking and horseback
riding, the 15.6 mile Grouse Mountain Trail links West Grouse Creek Trail
#2129 and Cross Creek Trail #1855 and
provides access to Grouse Mountain & Buffalo Lake. The climb from Cross
Creek Valley to the junction of Sisters Cabin Trail #2128 is very steep,
but offers great views of Mount of the Holy Cross and Cross Creek Valley.
The steep climb may be avoided by traveling this trail north to south.
Passing over an eastern shoulder of Grouse Mountain, Grouse Mountain Trail
offers several panoramas of the Sawatch Range.Two trailheads are available for
Grouse Mountain Trail:
- North Trailhead: Begin at Grouse Creek Trailhead, one mile north of
Minturn Colorado on U.S. 24. Travel along West Grouse Creek Trail 7
miles to the junction with Grouse Mountain Trail.
- South Trailhead: Begin at Cross Creek
Trailhead on Tigiwon Road #707. Travel Cross Creek Trail 6 miles to
the junction with Grouse Mountain Trail.
