Routt County Colorado Bike Trails
Mountain View Trail #1132
|
Routt National Forest
Available for biking, hiking and
horseback riding, the 6 mile Mountain View Trail serves as a connector
trail from Mount Werner to Long Lake and functions to compliment the
existing trails in the area by forming a loop. Mountain View Trail
connects 25 miles of summer use trails within the Steamboat Ski Area to a
system of Forest Service trails including
Fish Creek Trail #1102, Wyoming Trail #1101 and Percy Lake Trail
#1134. |
|
From the Storm Peak trailhead, Mountain View Trail travels
along 5 miles of single-track, 4 miles on a ridge east of the Steamboat
Ski Area then 1 mile north to Long Lake Reservoir. At Long Lake Reservoir
the trail picks up an existing two-track road for another mile up to FR
310.
Access
-
Mountain View Trail can only be accessed from other
mountain bike or hiking trail located on Mountain Werner. Travel from
the base of the ski area, using a variety of trails to reach the
trailhead at Storm Peak, or ride the Silver Bullet Gondola to
Thunderhead and travel to the top from there.
-
From Steamboat Springs follow CR 36 (Strawberry Park
Road) to FR 60 (Buffalo Pass Road) and turn east (right) onto FR 60.
Continue along FR 60 for 10 miles to the intersection of FR 310 and
Buffalo Pass. Turn south (right) and continue along FR 310 to Fish
Creek Reservoir where motorized vehicle access ends. Continue south
