Swamp Park Trail #1100

Available for hiking, horseback riding and
biking
(up to Mount Zirkel Wilderness), the 24.4 mile Swamp Park Trail leaves
South Fork Road #443 and follows the South Fork of the Elk River
downstream before turning up Burn Creek and on to Burn Ridge. Swamp Park
Trail then switchbacks into and out of Big Creek, then on to Swamp Park.
Red Dirt Trail #1171 is reached 2 miles south of Swamp Park.

Two access points are available for Swamp Park Trail:
- Travel west of Steamboat Springs along US 40 for 2 miles and turn
north onto Elk River Road (CR 129). Follow CR 129 for about 15 miles and
turn right onto Seedhouse Road (FR 400). Continue along FR 400 for 12
miles. At the fork turn right onto South Fork (FR 443) and travel about
2.5 miles to the trailhead on the right.
- Travel north along Strawberry Park Road for about 4.5 miles from
Steamboat Springs to Elk Park Road #314. Turn right onto this 4WD road and
travel 4 miles to it's end and Elk Park Trailhead which will connect with
Swamp Park Trail.
