Groundhog Creek Trail
|
Rated moderate/strenuous, the 2.4 mile
Groundhog Creek Trail is available for both hikers and
horseback riders. Although Groundhog Creek Trail terminates at I-40,
parking is illegal, the trail should therefore be accessed via the
Appalachian Trail or Rube Rock Trail.
Traveling along Groundhog Creek, Groundhog Creek Trail may be traveled
from either it's intersection with Rube Rock Trail or the AT. A 9.5 mile
loop may be formed by combining Groundhog Creek Trail, Appalachian Trail
or Rube Rock Trail. If hiking a loop, it is best to start at the Rube
Rock Trail.
Groundhog Creek Shelter is located .2 miles from the intersection
of Groundhog Creek Trail and the AT. Water is available along the
trail and at the shelter. |
