Mount Rogers National Recreation Area
This campground offers 20 campsites.
All are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each unit has a parking spur, tent pad or trailer space, wooden
picnic table, and fire grill.
Recreation vehicles up to 32 feet can be accommodated.
A central water hydrant and garbage containers are provided.
There are vault toilets (no flush toilets or showers).
A picnic shelter accommodates 75 and is also available on a
first-come, first-served basis (no reservations). |

This campground is open year round,
however the Forest Service does not plow the access road or campground loops
when it snows.
Weekend use is typically low to moderate, while weekday use is low.
Usually campers do not have difficulty finding a campsite and
enjoying privacy. However, the
campground typically becomes full or nearly full during holiday weekends, so
getting there early on Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends
is advisable.
Directions:
From I-81 take exit 67, 70, or 72 at Wytheville onto
US 11 (Main Street). On the
west end of town, US 11 turns off and Main Street becomes US 21 south.
Follow US 21 south for approximately 11 ½ miles to Virginia state
route 619 at Speedwell. Turn
east on VA 619 and go about 7 miles to the campground.
