Available for hiking and horseback riding,
the 6.82 mile Wilson Mesa Trail travels in an easterly direction through
open meadows & aspen. After 0.5 mile, the trail drops into a fork of
Morapos Creek and climbs up a ridge top to the Wymore Lake Trail junction.
Wilson Mesa Trail then drops into the main fork of Morapos Creek, crosses
it, and again climbs a small ridge before dropping gradually into the east
fork of Morapos Creek. |
|
After following this stream for
0.75 mile, the trail leaves the bottom and switchbacks up to a bald ridge
before reaching Wilson Mesa. The trail now turns south following the divide
between Morapos Creek & Pine Creek for 3 mils merging in the west end of
Salt Park where it meets the Salt Park Trail
#1114.
To reach Wilson Mesa Trail from Meeker Colorado, travel east & north
along CO 13 for 34 miles and turn southeast onto CR 41 (Morapos Creek
Road). Continue along CR 41 for 12 miles to the Forest boundary, continue
another 0.25 miles to Morapos Campground. Wilson Mesa trailhead is located
300 yards further at the end of the road. |
