Sevier County Tennessee Hiking Trails
|
Located within the
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the
1.5 mile Baskin Creek Trail begins along
Roaring Fork Motor
Nature Trail and travels up an easy short climb. Leveling off
around 0.25 miles, Baskin Creek Trail offers views (winter/early
spring) of Gatlinburg Tennessee and the mountains to the west of
the trail. Baskins Creek must be crossed at 0.9 miles, at which
point Baskin Creek Trail follows the creek down at a fairly
rapid rate.
A side trail is reached at 1.1 miles which travels to the
left toward Baskins Cemetery. Keeping right, Baskins Creek Trail
again crosses Baskins Creek. Another trail junction is reached
at 1.3 miles. Continuing will lead to Roaring Fork Motor Nature
Trail. Remain on Baskin Creek Trail by turning left which leads
to
Baskins Creek Falls (also called Baskins Falls).
To reach Baskins Creek Trail from
Gatlinburg Tennessee, turn onto
Airport Road at Traffic Light # 8 (Traffic Light numbers are
displayed beside the traffic lights.). Continue along Airport
Road for 3.7 miles at which point the road will turn into the
one-way Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. Travel 0.2 miles
further to the small sign indicating Baskins Creek Trail. Two
small pullovers are available on each side of the trailhead.
